Nigeria remains a largely cash-dominated country. There are more than 100 million adult Nigerians, of which more than half have little or no access to financial services. Bankly, a Nigerian fintech startup digitizing cash for the unbanked, announced that it has closed a $2 million seed round. Link here.
Just hours after the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) threw a wrench in Seedrs and Crowdcube’s plan to merge, both platforms have agreed to terminate the merger. Link here.
Fintech payment platform Airwallex has increased its valuation to US$2.6 billion with a capital raising of $100 million in a further Series D extension. Link here.
Paysafe Group, a leading specialized payments platform, announced that its Skrill digital wallet has expanded its cryptocurrency offering to the U.S. in partnership with Coinbase, the digital currency platform provider. Link here.
