Ripple has accused the SEC of distorting the facts about the status of its cryptocurrency XRP

Ripple has accused the Securities and Exchange Commission of distorting the facts about the status of its cryptocurrency XRP in its first formal response to a regulatory lawsuit filed in December. Since the SEC filed its complaint, XRP has lost almost half of its market value, as investors cashed out their holdings in favor of less contentious assets. In its formal response, Ripple contends that XRP is a cryptocurrency and therefore outside the SEC's jurisdiction. In its action against Ripple Labs Inc. and two of its executives, the SEC alleged that they "raised over $1.3 billion through an unregistered, ongoing digital asset securities offering". For the fiscal year 2020, Carbon, which has about 659,000 customers, said it processed ₦96.54 billion (~$241.35 million), up 89% compared to the same period a year ago. Link here.

Curve, the London-based fintech that combines multiple cards and accounts into one smart card and even smarter app, has named Cuong Do as an independent Board director. The appointment strengthens Curve’s management, as it embarks on an ambitious growth drive to expand in the US later this year, push deeper into Europe, and launch Curve Credit. Link here.
